✨About Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf
Datuk Nora joined Maybank in September 2008. Under her leadership, Maybank's ranking soared from 17th in the country in 2010 to 5th the same year, and it has maintained a top position since 2012. The bank also became the first Malaysian entity to be listed among Willis Towers Watson's Global High Performing Companies in 2011, a status it holds to this day. Maybank's performance reached new heights, breaking the USD 1 billion profit before tax threshold in 2010, demonstrating the strong link between people transformation and business success.
Datuk Nora's global recognition is evident through her numerous certifications, including being the first non-Singaporean to receive the Master Professional title from IHRP (Singapore) and a Doctorate by Practice from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. She has chaired several national-level committees and holds multiple board memberships, including President of the Malaysian Commercial Banks Association and Chairman of the BNM-sponsored HR Networking Group.
In 2024, she was appointed Project Champion for the Industry’s Future Skills Framework, launched by the BNM Governor and HR Minister. Datuk Nora is also a member of various advisory boards and councils, contributing her expertise to institutions like Yayasan Khazanah and Universiti Utara Malaysia.
Beyond banking, Datuk Nora has experience in the semiconductor and telecommunications industries, having worked with Intel and Maxis. She played key roles in post-M&A integration projects for Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong and Indonesia. Her academic credentials include a post-graduate certification in Human Resource Development from Cornell University and an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.
Datuk Nora is a passionate advocate for women's empowerment, founding the Malaysia Chapter of the 30 Percent Club and mentoring through various leadership programs. She has received numerous accolades, including the "Beacon of Light" award and the Top 50 Impact Lifetime Achievement Awards for Women Excellence. In 2024, she was honored with the World Outstanding Woman Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award.
